Instructors in the paralegal bachelor and associate degree programs and the Legal Administrative Assistant diploma program at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business bring a wealth of legal experience to the classroom. Cathy KennedyCathy Kennedy, Legal Program Director

Cathy Kennedy has been the Legal Program Director at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business for eleven years. She started working at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business in 1991 as an instructor and in 1996 became program director. Cathy developed the Associate Degree Paralegal Program in 1994. In 2004 she and the Legal Coordinator team developed the Bachelor Degree in Paralegal Studies program. She oversees the program at all campuses. She also teaches and develops on-line and residential paralegal courses. 

Cathy is a member of the American Association for Paralegal Education and has strong ties in the legal community through the Minnesota State Bar Association-Paralegal Committee. She also serves as an accreditation (ACICS) evaluator for six years, evaluating paralegal programs across the country. 

Joseph Bazan, J.D., Legal Program Coordinator, St. Cloud Campus

Joseph Bazan has been an attorney since 1993 and worked in his own firm from 1993 into 2000, and for the public defender’s office from 1997-1999. His first legal career job was at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm in downtown Chicago where he worked as a law clerk. He also worked as a law clerk for Weiss Memorial Hospital’s (Chicago) in-house legal department.
 
Joseph began teaching at the Brooklyn Center Campus in September 2002, then moved to and shared time with the Plymouth campus, and has been at the St Cloud campus since April 2005. He has been the Legal Program Coordinator at St Cloud since October 2005.
 
Joseph is a past-president of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s 18th District (Wright, Sherburne, and Isanti Counties) Bar Association and is a past Chairman of the MSBA’s Criminal Law Section. Joseph’s teaching passions were discovered while tutoring and judging high school and college students in local and national mock trial competitions.

Terri L. Lindfors, J.D., Legal Program Coordinator, Richfield Campus

Terri Lindfors is currently the Legal Program Coordinator at the Richfield campus. Prior to that, she taught Paralegal Studies courses at various campuses at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business. Terri has over nine years of experience as a corporate paralegal for a major corporation. She also worked in as an attorney for a general practice firm in the Twin Cities area until she opened her own practice in the area of estate planning. Terri also reviews paralegal textbooks for a variety of legal publishers.

Meg Neubauer has worked as a litigation paralegal in private law firms and corporate law departments in Minnesota and Iowa since 1984. She has worked on personal injury, employment, dram shop and medical malpractice cases, including assisting attorneys with witnesses and exhibits at trial and maintaining documents in multi-plaintiff and complex litigation cases.

 

Meg started working at MSB/Globe in 2005 as an instructor and became the Legal Program Coordinator at the Brooklyn Center campus the same year. 

 

Meg is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Paralegal Association and National Federation of Paralegal Associations.

Gabrielle Reule is currently the Legal Program Coordinator at the Plymouth campus.  Prior to that, she was a full-time instructor at various campuses at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business.  Gabrielle has been an attorney since 2003 and has worked as a private attorney for the past several years handling family, criminal, estate planning, and real estate law cases.  She also spent several years working at Thomson West training attorneys and paralegals how to use Westlaw to perform legal research.

Gabe Berntson has been an attorney since 1998 and began teaching in the Globe University/Minnesota School of Business system in 2004, assuming the Coordinator position at Globe in fall of 2006.

 

Gabe’s extensive work history began prior to entering law school as Berntson worked in all areas of a mid-sized construction company eventually rising to the position of Controller. During law school Gabe worked for private attorneys, two venture capital firms and a charter school management company.

 

After law school Berntson worked for a private firm, then left to start his own firm before going to work for some of his clients as Vice President and General Counsel for the Island Investments, Inc. group of companies. Island Investments, Inc., is a small venture capital firm involved in many different industries from Construction and real estate to restaurants and treasure hunting. Gabe’s work has taken him all over the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

 

Additionally Gabe ran a law clinic on the eastside of St. Paul, lobbied at the State Capitol for non-profits and has been a collegiate track and field coach for thirteen years and is developing on-line professional development curriculum for the Hamline University School of Law. Berntson designed the volunteer recognition protocol for the University of St. Thomas and is a volunteer attorney with the Children’s Law Center and a mentor with the American Dreamz group at Tartan high School among other volunteer activities. Berntson lives in Woodbury, MN with a wonderfully understanding wife and three beautiful daughters.

Matthew Telleen has a diverse legal background, with experiences in many different areas of law. Matthew also has an extensive teaching background, and loves combining his passion for the law with his interest in teaching at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business.

 

Matthew was drawn to education and the idea of teaching even in law school. He was named the Best Oralist of his section in Law School, and he taught LSAT classes in the evening to potential law students.

 

Prior to attending law school, Matt had extensive experience in business and journalism. He has written for several newspapers and while in college, was nominated as one of the best columnists on the west coast.

 

Matt currently lives in Minneapolis with his wife and their three children. In his free time he enjoys movies, reading and writing, in addition to being a huge sports fan.  

Patti Kruger, Lead Legal Program Instructor, Rochester Campus

After working in litigation and class action cases with Meshbesher & Spence – Rochester branch, Patti became interested in teaching paralegal students after working with several interns from a local university. At her prior job Patti was also in charge of hiring and training new employees in various positions. 

 

Patti is a member of NFPA and MPA.

 

Patti currently resides in Rochester with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. She enjoys playing volleyball, scrap booking and traveling.

Brian Craig is a legal instructor at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business where has taught both online and traditional face-to-face courses. He also developed several of the online legal courses at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business. He was an adjunct instructor from 2005-2008 and became a full-time instructor and the online legal coordinator in March 2008.

Prior to joining the faculty of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business, Brian worked as an attorney at Thomson-West in Eagan, Minnesota from 2002-2008 where he provided research assistance for attorneys and paralegal using Westlaw. He also previously worked as a legal editor for publisher Wolters Kluwer. During law school, Brian clerked for District Court Judge Carl Kerrick in Lewiston, Idaho. He also worked as a legislative aide for Senator George Runner in the California State Legislature.

Brian is also a volunteer attorney with the Legal Assistance of Dakota County and a mentor for law students with the J. Reuben Clark Law Society (Twin Cities Chapter). He is admitted to practice law in Minnesota (active) and California (inactive).

Brian taught legal writing to first-year law students at the University of Minnesota Law School from 2007-2008. He is also an articles reviewer for the American Business Law Journal and a member of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

He has written articles appearing in the North Dakota Law Review, Real Estate Law Journal, Real Estate Review, Perspectives: Teaching Legal & Writing, and Raven: A Journal of Vexillology. His research interests focus on intellectual property, privacy, and constitutional issues with emerging technologies. Brian has also written scholarly articles on legal research and writing. Brian lives in Eagan, Minnesota with his wife and two sons.

Kristin BrunerKristin Bruner, Legal Program Instructor, Online Campus

Kirstin has been a  Legal Instructor at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business for several years, teaching both Legal Studies and MBA classes, and in the world of online teaching for close to a decade as an Online Professor in Humanities and Communications as well. She also develops on-line paralegal courses.   Her studies in Criminal Justice have taken her to the Netherlands to study in Rotterdam and in the Hague, as well as to great Britain to study at the bobby training facility, and Russia.
 

Kirstin’s background is in legal research, and as a ghostwriter and textbook author in a number of genres. Kirstin also shows art nationally and internally each year as a geometric abstractionism. She resides in Washington, DC.
