Interested in a drafting or design degree?

It can be hard to know if you aren't sure what jobs the training will prepare you for. Ask yourself,

"Do I:

  • Like practical, hands-on problem solving?
  • Like to see the results of my work?
  • Enjoy puzzles, cross-words or sudokus, on paper or on the computer?
  • Like to express myself by drawing or redesigning things?
  • Want to earn a career degree in less than two years?"

If you answered yes to several of those questions, consider a career in engineering or architectural drafting and design. As a drafter, designer or technician, you will use CAD software to prepare technical drawings of everything from computers to office buildings. In addition to 3-D models, you will provide exact dimensions, specific materials to be used and procedures that will guide production or construction.

Architecture or engineering design?

We offer two-year degree programs in two specialties:

How do you know which would be right for you?

Do you draw houses and other structures, with detail right down to the cracks in the sidewalks? Can you scan a page and find the detail that makes a difference? Sounds like architecture drafting or design.

Do you take things apart just to see how they work? And try to improve them before you put them back together? Maybe engineering design is in your future.

Don't make a college decision on the basis of a few questions—contact a representative of our admissions team and get more information about training and careers in drafting and design. We want you to make the right school and career choice.
