Accounting Certification Exam Preparation

Accredited Business Accountant/Advisor (ABA)

The Accredited Business Accountant/Advisor certification (ABA), issued by Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT), is for the accountant who serves individuals and small businesses. Our associate in accounting and tax specialist program fulfills two years of the three-year experience requirement for the ABA, and prepares students for the ABA exam.

Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA)

The Accredited Tax Advisor certification demonstrates an accountant’s qualification to handle sophisticated tax planning issues for business, retirement plans, trusts and estates. It requires five years of experience in tax preparation, compliance, tax planning and consulting.

Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP)

The AAS in accounting and tax specialist program prepares students for the Accredited Tax Preparer examination, and satisfies two years of the three-year work experience requirement.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

A certified internal auditor (CIA) examines and evaluates a company’s financial and information systems, management procedures and internal controls. The CIA candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a national certification held by many corporate managers and controllers. A CMA has demonstrated the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in management, reporting to and working on teams with owners, CEOs and managers of corporations. Certification requires a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Certified public accountants are in demand for positions as financial analysts, auditors, tax managers, cost control managers and general accountants. Each state’s Board of Accountancy has different rules for certified public accountant (CPA) status. Students should research their state’s rules carefully before enrolling.

Certified Fraud Examiner

Certified fraud examiners (CFEs) identify the red flags that indicate fraud or the risk of fraud. To become a CFE, an accountant must pass the Certified Fraud Examiner(CFE) exam and fulfill an experience requirement.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

A certified payroll professional is recognized for skills and knowledge of payroll and payroll taxation.

Enrolled Agent (EA) certification

An enrolled agent is qualified to represent taxpayers before the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This accounting certification is regulated by the IRS.

Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC)

The fundamental payroll certificate demonstrates an accountant’s skills and knowledge in the payroll field. Certification, offered through the American Payroll Association, prepares employees in large and mid-sized corporations to earn promotions and other career advancements.
