The description of any business course at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business could start with the word “practical.” For 130 years our college has been providing business and accounting students with skills training that applies directly to their professional duties. In every course, in every class session, students are expected to design practical solutions for realistic problems.
The following general business courses fulfill core requirements and serve as electives for a variety of business and accounting programs:
BS100 Business Mathematics (4 Credits)
The course is a study of simple and compound interest problems, time value of money concepts, simple business statistics and retail mathematics. Students also review simple algebraic equations.
Prerequisites: FM052
BS110 Business Communications (4 Credits)
The course provides students with skills for effective business communication from a global perspective.
Prerequisites: FW052
BS150 Business Writing (4 Credits)
Students create written business communications, applying writing techniques to produce professional documents and presentations.
Prerequisites: FW052
BS310 Technical Communications (4 Credits)
Students learn to write effective technical communication documents using correct research techniques, procedures and reporting formats. Document design, organization and readability are emphasized.
Prerequisites: BS150 OR LA240
BS311 Organizational Behavior (4 Credits)
The course examines how organizations are formed, in terms of how and why forms take shape; the effects forms or structures of organizations have on their operations and effectiveness; and how the study of behavior of people within an organization can be used to improve an organization's effectiveness.
Prerequisites: CM121, AND CM155 OR SS116 OR SS140
BS325 Fraud Examination (4 Credits)
The course examines various methods used to defraud organizations, how to identify and investigate suspected fraud, how to identify preventive methods used to deter fraud in the workplace, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the need for its creation. Real case studies enhance and reinforce learning objectives.

Globe University and Minnesota School of Business are members of the Globe Education Network.
