Recently, Minnesota School of Business- Lakeville welcomed the newest addition to their faculty: Carie Allen. Carie accepted the position of information technology program chair after being an adjunct instructor at the campus for several quarters.
Carie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Physics and Mathematics and a minor in business administration from the University of St. Thomas. She also earned a Master of Science in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota.
For over a decade, Carie worked at West Publishing (also known as Thomson Reuters) in a variety of roles, including network engineering, quality assurance/control, software development and managing web application development. After she decided to leave the corporate world, she started working as a consultant. She now works as an independent consultant for a variety of clients, advising them on everything from web development to risk analysis to technical evaluation.
In addition to teaching at MSB and working as a consultant, Carie spends time volunteering in elementary schools, working to tutor children in math. She also volunteers as a middle school science fair project mentor and judge.
When asked about the best part of teaching at Minnesota School of Business, Carie says, “Having the opportunity to say ‘yes you can’ every time I spend time with students. I’m passionate about helping others reach their goals, to think beyond what they may have thought possible and to go have the confidence to go get it.”
Carie also added, “I look forward to strengthening the IT program at the Lakeville campus by increasing student enrollment, growing our presence in the community and offering more internship, externship and post-graduate job opportunities to our students.”
