A big congratulations to the veterinary technology program students and faculty at Minnesota School of Business-Blaine for winning the two-week “Pennies for Patients/Make the Change Penny Wars” fundraiser on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)! This fundraiser is part of a larger fundraising effort by the students in Professional Communications 1 class this quarter.
A total of $235.30 in coins, currency and one online contributor to date ($50) has come in, with additional funds expected from boxes placed at external business sites, as well as the “jeans week” fundraiser approved for staff next week (see Debi at the front desk for this contribution).
The tally is in for the first of a number of events, continuing until May 22, and the following “Penny Wars” totals on the board are:
- Veterinary technology program: 2,167 points
- MSB-Blaine staff: 1,639 points
- Accounting program: 1,322 points
- Other programs/teams competing: $114.30 in jar change included the massage therapy, business, medical assisting and information technology programs, as well as the MSB-Blaine faculty.
Dave Erickson, business program chair at MSB-Blaine said, “Contributions can still be made in the boxes at the MSB-Blaine front desk and in the student commons until Friday, May 22, and the class will keep you updated with the progress on their goal to raise $500 by the end date to help in the fight to eradicate these diseases.”
According to the LLS website, “LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.”
Thanks again for your help and donations, and keep that loose change coming for three more weeks!
