MSB Volunteer Fair Connects Students with Local Nonprofits

Posted by on March 15, 2015

Recently, the Minnesota School of Business (MSB)-Plymouth campus welcomed nonprofit representatives of the community to advertise their volunteer positions to students. There was a wide variety of opportunities available that ranged from front desk assistance, tax prep help, reading to children, and food sorting. Students were also given a chance to network and gain knowledge of local nonprofits.volunteer fair at MSB-Plymouth

During college, I volunteered at a Minneapolis charter school where I helped high school students apply for jobs, apply for financial aid by filling out the FAFSA, and find affordable housing. This experience is what set me apart from other candidates and helped me land a management trainee position in higher education,” Elaine Vandenburgh, campus director at MSB-Plymouth.

Elaine continued, “Landing that position allowed me to get experience for future positions. In addition to gaining relevant experience, volunteering is a great way to connect with people in your community and give back at the same time.”

If you missed out on this wonderful event, check out the opportunities posted on the volunteer board in the student commons or on the organizations’ websites below.
