The Minnesota School of Business-Brooklyn Center campus (MSB) has reached a milestone, and we would love for you to celebrate it with us!
25 years ago, MSB-Brooklyn Center opened its doors for the first time in the city. While the building may not be the same, the ties to the community are stronger than ever.
Diana Igo, campus director, said, “We are so proud to be a part of the Brooklyn Center community, and we thoroughly enjoy getting to know more members of it every day. There are many great people who live and work here. With our membership and involvement with the Brooklyn Center Business Association as well as the Brooklyn Center Rotary, we are constantly reminded why the city’s motto is ‘A great place to start, a great place to stay.’ We love that we are located in such a tight-knit, diverse community. We hope to be here for many more years to come!”
The 25 year celebration will be taking place during the 3rd annual National Night Out event.
The first year that the MSB-BC campus held an event on National Night Out, students at the campus planned the event as a way to unite to show support for violence that had been taking place in the neighborhoods that they lived in around the Minneapolis area; it was called “A Day of Peace.” The event was a great success as students, staff and community members spent the day playing games, listening to musical performances, and eating some wonderful food.
During last year’s event, a dunk tank made its debut to help raise money for the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP). Several visitors from the community stopped by, including members of the local Sun Post newspaper, police department, fire department, sheriff’s office, city council and Target.
We hope for our third annual event to draw an even bigger crowd, especially since we are celebrating our 25th anniversary! To promote the event, representatives from the campus will be participating in the Brooklyn Center National Night Out Kick Off Party, which everyone is invited to attend. This year, the city will hold this event on Monday, August 4, from 6 -8 p.m., at Brooklyn Center Centennial Park. Learn more here.
Please join us at our celebration on Tuesday, August 5, from 12:30 – 6:30 p.m. There will be music, a bounce house, games, food and fun! We are located at 5910 Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center.
We hope to see you there!
