It was a late night for the Minnesota School of Business-Blaine massage club on a recent Saturday night. Massage Therapy Program Chair Jennifer Youngs and six massage club students (Ashlee Rist, Lee Kulick, Connie Jones, Melanie Rosten, Emily Yzermans and Angelique Lerdall) had the opportunity to attend the Champlin Park High School Senior All-Night Party and offer chair massage to the party-goers from 10 p.m.to 2 a.m. at Blainbrook Entertainment Center. In addition, the party offered a variety of other activities for the attendees including palm readers, games, prizes, food, henna tattoos and karaoke.
“The party was very well organized, and we had a lot of fun. Seniors signed up for appointments to receive a chair massage from us, and we were busy the whole time. We’re already tentatively booked for next year’s party!” said Youngs.
For their hard work, the massage club was paid $1,200 which was and will be used for student-led massage club activities such as: bringing in guest speakers, team building activities, promotion at charitable events, and educational materials to enhance students’ education. Some of the money was used to provide each of the massage club students a Zyto scan, which is a biofeedback scanner showing which essential oils your body may need. The massage club also hired a Young Living speaker to educate them about essential oils.
In addition to the Champlin Park High School party this year, Youngs was also contacted by Armstrong High School for their senior party. She was able to refer three MSB-Blaine massage therapy program graduates (Ariel Doleschey, Ashley McCay and Laura Hamer) who were hired for the job .
