Here at the Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth (MSB) campus, 12 volunteers put their talents to work and partnered with Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP) to do some much needed staining and painting for some of the homes at the Vicksburg Commons community in Plymouth.

Since 1979, IOCP has been making an impact in eight west suburban communities. IOCP provides emergency and long-term solutions around food and clothing, housing, employment, child care, transportation, and access to resources and healthy community connections.

Some of the units that were worked on are reserved for seniors and families who have experienced long-term homelessness. IOCP Community Engagement Manager Liz Erstad-Hicks said, “Their time was a big money saver to us and an encouragement to the Vicksburg Commons community.”

This hasn’t been the first time MSB and IOCP have partnered to help those in the Plymouth community. This past winter, MSB and their sister school, Minnesota School of Cosmetology, collected boxes of hat and mittens which the IOCP helped distribute to those in need during the cold winter months.

“IOCP has done a lot to help the Plymouth community. We are practically neighbors since IOCP is just on the other side of Highway 6. We look forward to our continued partnership with these wonderful people,” said Elaine Vandenburgh, campus director at MSB-Plymouth.
