Globe University and Minnesota School of Business are proud to honor Verne Wiltse as our November 2013 Veteran of the Month. Verne is a World War II Veteran who grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In an interview with WCCO Radio, Verne shared, “I think from the time that I was probably a freshman in high school, my whole dream was sometime going in the service.”
Growing up in St. Paul, Verne enthusiastically joined the Navy at the age of 17. He said, “It was a happy day when we were accepted and could get on the train to go down to boot camp.” Verne was sent to Mare Island, California where he spent his career in the service as a trained dental assistant. He checked and fixed returning World War II sailor’s teeth. This was required before they were allowed to be discharged from the service.
Once Verne got out of the service, he attended Macalester College in St. Paul, got married and started a family. Beginning his career in food sales, Verne soon moved to Raovac where he lived and worked for over 20 years. Eventually he started his own business, Wiltse and Associates.
Currently retired, Verne has three children, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Globe University and Minnesota School of Business would like to thank Verne and all of our other veterans for their service. We are proud to be a Yellow-Ribbon School and support our military members and their families. Globe University and Minnesota School of Business partner with WCCO to bring you the Veteran of the Month.
