Top Community Partner Recognized for Engaging our Students

Posted by on September 24, 2013

The businesses and organizations that partner with Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee are an important piece of our “We Care” philosophy. Our community partners allow us to offer unique applied learning projects for our students that would not be possible without their collaboration. The Globe University and Minnesota School of Business campuses in the Twin Cities metro area celebrated their community partners earlier this month at our annual Community Partners Recognition Luncheon.

Jan Winstead of Bundles of Love speaks to the crowd at this year's Community Partner Recognition Luncheon

The Shakopee campus was proud to celebrate our top community partner of 2013, Bundles of Love, during this year’s event. Bundles of Love has collaborated with our campus since 2009, offering students the opportunity to complete applied learning projects at their Twin Cities locations. The organization, which frequently partners with our Global Citizenship classes, provides newborns in need with necessary supplies.

Jan Winstead, a volunteer coordinator with Bundles of Love, attended our Community Partner Recognition Luncheon to speak on behalf of the Shakopee campus’ partnership with the organization. Through their work with the organization, Minnesota School of Business students complete a variety of volunteer-based projects including knitting and sewing blankets and clothing, as well as putting together the actual bundles of supplies. In addition to blankets and clothing, the bundles include bibs, diapers, washcloths and other items.

In her address, Jan spoke about the dedication our students display and how appreciative she and Bundles of Love are of the students who spend time with the organization. Jan shared a story of one Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee student who went above and beyond to help by designing a brochure that is now used to help promote the organization.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Bundles of Love provides our students,” Justin Simonson, Community Manager, said. “Organizations like Bundles of Love allow our students to carry out applied learning projects that uniquely prepare them for their futures.”

The Shakopee campus looks forward to continuing the great partnership with Bundles of Love and helping the organization fulfill their valuable mission.
