Students at Minnesota School of Business in Elk River had the opportunity to experience a Minnesota tradition early this year with a State Fair-themed Student Appreciation Event on August 21. Students enjoyed a picnic menu of State Fair-like food-on-a-stick items while trying their luck at some fun fair games for chances at big prizes.Student Appreciation is a quarterly event that gives staff and faculty the opportunity to reward students for their hard work and commitment to their educational endeavors. With the Minnesota State Fair now in full swing, what better way to demonstrate this appreciation than with our own fun-filled fair day!
Students enjoyed a food-on-a-stick menu consisting of corn dogs, giant pickles, refreshing watermelon, and delightful cookies. The only menu item not on a stick was the lemonade.
While students enjoyed their fair food-on-a-stick, they also tried their skills at some of the fun games and activities, including pluck-a-duck, punch-a-prize, and bottle ring toss to win amazing prizes. Every student that participated received prizes that consisted of coffee mugs, water bottles, and MSB apparel.Alicia Bristlin, who is earning a medical assistant degree, and Regan Williamson, a veterinary technology program student, won big, both taking home tickets to the Minnesota State Fair. The big winner of the day was Melissa Lauer-Witt, a paralegal student, who received the grand prize by punching the last remaining hole in the punch-a-prize game board. She took home tickets to the Minnesota State Fair, a Minnesota State Fair coupon book, and a gas gift card.
This summer’s Student Appreciation event was a fun-filled fair day for students, faculty and staff and a Great “Elk River” Get Together!
