associate degree in information technology

IT grad Eric Phinney landed a dream job with AT&T inTexas.

A Minnesota School of Business-Blaine (MSB) graduate in the associate degree in information technology program has been offered his dream job after moving to Texas.

Eric Phinney, an MSB student who took his IT internship course with John Daley, IT executive program chair, subsequently moved to Texas after graduating with his associate degree in information technology in December. Eric asked Daley for pointers on where to apply for jobs in Texas. Daley referred Eric to some nationally-recognized IT placement firms, and Eric never looked back.

Eric’s internship was with the Lino Lakes Department of Corrections, a job under the supervision of the newly consolidated MN.IT group, which is coordinating all information technology jobs in the state of Minnesota. At the Lino Lakes DOC, Eric had the opportunity to work with both hardware and software in secure networked environments.

In Texas, Eric’s new position will be the IT project manager with AT&T, working with the State of Texas in their Network Security Operation Center (NSOC).  Eric’s previous military service (he served in Iraq and escaped an attack from an improvised explosive device) provided him with a DOD security clearance, which will enable him to start work within a month.

Eric told Daley, “Coming out of school with an AAS and landing this position is like winning the lottery, in my opinion.”

We are confident that Eric will do extremely well, and we wish him every success in his new IT position.
