Dreams Fulfilled, Goals Reached at Plymouth Graduation Ceremony

Posted by on March 30, 2013

Graduation is the culmination of one’s academic journey, propelling students into professional lives through the achievement of goals, dreams and hard work. The Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth campus recognized those feats and hard work at its Winter Quarter graduation ceremony at the Medina Entertainment Center in Medina, Minn., recently.

Sarah Anderson, bachelor's of accounting graduate, awaits the start of the Plymouth Winter Quarter Graduation Ceremony.

Twenty-one graduates were awarded diplomas, with speeches from Kirk Lewis, executive health fitness program chair, and students Shaun Ulrich and Deborah Newton-D’Taillefer.

Lewis’s speech, entitled “Let Your Life Speak,” talked about the transformative and equalizing nature of education, and how it gives a concrete hold to change lives for the better.

“We are the sum of our experiences, and our journeys are a scrapbook of those experiences,” Lewis said.

Shaun Ulrich, a business management graduate, talked about how diplomas are more than just a piece of paper, and what they mean to our lives.

“[The diploma] represents the hard work, the dedication and commitment we have made to our education,” he said. “It improves the condition of your life and the lives of those around you…It is the fruition of the belief in ourselves.”

Newton-D’Taillefer talked about her college career, and how dreams shape us.

“I ask each of you to remember that dreams don’t always happen when you want them to,” she said. “Don’t ever let go of your dreams…I’m living proof of that.”

She ended by quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson, saying:

“What lies before us, and what lies ahead of us are just tiny matters compared to what lies within each of us.”
