Minnesota School of Business-Brooklyn Center has been the home to BC’s Closet since the organization first began rolling out in the beginning of 2011. BC’s Closet officially opened in August 2012, and the government granted the organization its nonprofit status just one month later. To learn about the history of the organization, check out this blog post.
Members of the board have been working hard to strategically plan out the next three years in regards to how the organization will remain sustainable. One important piece in the plan is to create awareness of what BC’s Closet is, not only for the students at the campus but the public as well.
BC’s Closet has been fortunate in that the local newspaper, the Sun Post, did a fantastic article about the grand opening in August. Other presentations to the Brooklyn Center Business Association and the North Hennepin Business Women have been beneficial because members have found ways to be supportive both as groups and as individuals. A YouTube video was also created by media business students at the Minnesota School of Business – Brooklyn Center campus as part of a video contest within the Globe University/Minnesota School of Business network of colleges.
While all of these presentations have been beneficial to participate in, BC’s Closet has now gained itself a place in television as Ann Gallagher from Channel 12, a local cable network covering Brooklyn Center and its surrounding communities, did a short story, which aired last week. Several donations have come in from members of the community since the airing. Check out the video!
Thank you to all of the community organizations and their members who have continued to support BC’s Closet!
