The Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth campus (MSB) celebrated its 40th graduating class on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Sheraton Minneapolis West in Minnetonka, Minn. Fall quarter graduates received their hard-earned degrees in front of peers, staff, family and friends.

Angelica Bisek, who graduated with a health fitness bachelor’s degree, represented the newest MSB alums as the student speaker.

“Because of my education, I was hired by one of the most prestigious personal training studios in Minneapolis,” Bisek said in her speech. “As a mom with three kids, I know I couldn’t have achieved that without the type of education or flexibility in online and on-campus [options] MSB provided.”

Bisek’s road to higher education started in 2009 after her husband was deployed to Iraq. While her kids were in swim lessons at the YMCA, she discovered her new passion for fitness while working with a personal trainer.

After her husband returned home, Bisek earned the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certifications, but still was left looking for more.

“MSB allowed me to get the hands-on experience [in] training and developing fitness programs before going out in the real world and working with clients,” Bisek said.

Allison Broeren, business program chair at the Globe University-Woodbury campus, gave the keynote address. In it, she encouraged graduates to never forget the hope that brought them to school, and to keep growing in life’s journeys.

“There are no strict rules for you to follow as you venture into the future,” said Broeren. “Don’t be afraid, embrace the unexpected, do what you love, don’t listen to your adversaries and continue down the path that was designed for you,” she encouraged the graduating class.
