Who doesn’t like free money? There are numerous scholarshipsavailable to students who are willing to search and do the work for them.
Just ask Kathleen Turner, Angelica Bisek and Ceresa Young — TwinWest Career Path Scholarship winners and Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth (MSB) students.
They all earned over $2,000 in scholarship funds after pairing their TwinWest awards with MSB’s matching scholarship program.
“The TwinWest Scholarship meant that others besides my family, friends and coworkers see potential in me,” Young said. It also showed me that my passion for forensic accounting is strong and I’m heading in the right direction.”
Bisek, a health fitness specialist student currently working at Steele Fitness, has been taking 20+ credits for the last year, limiting the number of hours she can work. The $1,000 she earned from TwinWest and $1,000 from MSB were welcome surprises.
“Winning the TwinWest Scholarship was an amazing opportunity, it meant that I didn’t have to stress about being able to pay all the monthly bills over the next few months,” Bisek said.
But what if you’re strapped for time, or don’t have the academic or extracurricular resume that will catch the eyes of a scholarship committee?
The financial aid departments at all MSB campuses have searched high and low to find opportunities for all students. The following are simple, time-efficient contests that anybody can enter quickly.
This is a $1,000 scholarship given out three times per year. It is exclusively for students that are currently enrolled or have been accepted to any accredited two-year or four-year undergraduate program offered by a Minnesota school.
Applicants must be 18 years old and 75 percent of credits must be taken through classroom training. Two of the last four awards have been won by MSB students, and the recipient is determined by a random drawing.
The application can be completed in less than five minutes. Basic contact information, the name of your school and your start date is all that is required.
