On Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m., Minnesota School of Business in Blaine took time to honor and celebrate students, staff and faculty that have served and are currently serving in our Armed Forces. This event was also open to the public.
The student commons was decorated in red, white and blue, and there were cupcakes and punch in the same colors. Diana Igo, campus director, welcomed all in attendance and provided some background information about Veterans Day, previously referred to as Armistice Day. For a full history of Veterans Day, visit the Center of Military History.
Following a moment of silence to reflect on loved ones that have served or are currently serving, Laura Bartley, deputy director from the Anoka County Veteran Services Office, addressed the crowd. Laura provided general information regarding benefits for veterans and dependents of veterans. Laura also answered several student and employee questions about specific benefits and services offered.
The mission of the Veteran Services Office is: “To provide veterans and their families with benefit counseling, referrals, and assistance in a variety of programs.” See below for the contact information for the Anoka County Veteran Services Office.
