Minnesota School of Business-Rochester is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual G.I. Jolly Holiday Party, an event designed to show our military families appreciation and thanks this holiday season.
With three prior parties that have been truly rewarding, this year’s volunteers, including staff and faculty, have the added incentive of continuing to build upon past years’ success for many reasons, not the least of which includes the smiles of little ones playing games and meeting Santa!
On average, between 100-130 guests, including veterans, family members, distinguished guests, volunteers and staff attend. Regardless of background, guests enjoy participating in all activities together because of the event’s emphasis on supporting our military.
Military enrollment at Minnesota School of Business-Rochester constitutes between 10-15% of the total student population. This statistic is what encouraged the campus to start the holiday celebration. The success reflected in guests’ camaraderie over the years continues to promote the tradition.
The evening extravaganza will ceremoniously begin with Rochester’s local American Legion, Post 92, posting colors, a holiday dinner for families to share, and stories and recollections from local vets and their families to unite and support our military members.
The night also includes some great prize give-a-ways complete with a visit from Santa. Children of military families are especially encouraged to attend, as this is a great holiday event and a way that MSB continues to give back to our community.
Steffanie Brewer, event organizer, who is part of a larger planning committee of campus staff working together, is most excited about the impact this annual event has on these families.
“There is no greater sacrifice than serving one’s country and these soldiers–men and women alike–now have another way to come closer together during the holidays,” notes Brewer.
Participating again this year is event sponsor Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Southeast Minnesota (BYRSEMN). Their involvement over the past three years has provided outreach support to reaching out to military members and their families so their attendance can be assured. Once again, MSB-Rochester volunteers have been working hand in hand with BYRSEMN representatives to make this year’s event as special for our soldiers and their families.
The event takes place at the Minnesota School of Business-Rochester campus on Friday evening, Dec. 7, 2012 from 6-9 pm. To register or volunteer for the event, please call front desk at 507-536-9500 or email Steffanie Brewer at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
