Vet Tech Class Helps Raise Money for Hooved Animal Rescue

Five Intro to Veterinary Technology students assisted MN Hooved Animal Rescue in a huge garage sale in hopes of raising money for the rescue and other local animal rescues.

The students volunteered, more than 55 hours combined, with moving donations to the garage sale site, organizing and pricing the items, and assisting during the actual garage sale.

“I am happy I got to help such a great cause and make a difference in horses’ lives,” said student Melissa Fix.

Not only did the students learn about the importance of volunteering for a good cause, they also learned how to interact with pet owners and practice problem solving skills – both of which are key to working in a vet clinic, according to student Kristen Weeber.

Overall the sale produced more than $3,000 that will go towards helping animals in the surrounding area.
