A Word From Dean Paulson on Coaching Center

Posted by on May 21, 2012

Welcome to Week 8!

Now that you’re a bit more than half-way through the quarter, how are things going?

Dean Paulson

Many of you are doing great at this point and don’t need any additional assistance; however, I have heard from a number of students who are struggling and may benefit from some additional one-on-one assistance.

For those of you who would like or need some additional assistance, my first recommendation to you is to explore our Coaching Center.

Many students use the Coaching Center and have nothing but great things to say about it!  So why not give it a try?  You can work with Nicole Rasmussen on writing assignments, or try working on tricky calculations with math instructor Dan Roddin.

Those of you who have not used this resource, now is the time!  You may be asking yourself, “What do I need to do in order to visit the coaching center?”

Well, here’s a good place to start:

  1. Check out the Coaching Center hours (located next to the coaching center door or down stairs above the drinking fountain) or check out the bottom of this blog post.
  2. Visit the Coaching Center during a time that works for you.  It’s located on the 2nd floor between rooms 214 and 215.
  3. Come prepared.  Attempt your work before you visit so you know specifically where and with what concepts you are struggling.

If the coaching center hours don’t seem to work with your schedule, you can also try SmartThinking, which is an online tutoring program.

To access SmartThinking, just login to your CampusConnect account, go into a class and select tools.  Look for SmartThinking login and select it.  You will just login to the program and you can then submit a paper for review or find a tutor available to help in whatever subject you need!

I wish you good luck in the remaining weeks of this quarter and hope to hear
about your experiences with the Coaching Center.  Have a great week!
