Secret Service Visits Plymouth Campus

Intermediate Accounting II and Fraud Examination students at the Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth welcomed Special Agent Curtis Chapa of the U.S. Secret Service to class recently.

Chapa shared his experiences working for the Department of the Treasury and offered stories on several local and national cases he has worked on. Students had the opportunity to also hear about his journey in the field and the career paths that fraud prevention offers.

Students learned about several forms and practices of how credit card fraud is perpetrated. Chapa also talked about practices and methods used to identify the criminals and prevent future cases of fraud and identity theft.

The evening wrapped up with an examination of different counterfeit bills made throughout the world, along with tactics to identify the illegal tender.
