Marc Courey talks to students about the fraud examination field

Students in Robert Hyde’s Intermediate Accounting II and Ron Myszkowski’s Fraud Examination class had the chance to hear from seasoned industry professional Marc Courey recently.

Courey, the director of litigation, fraud, support and forensic services at Wipfli, has over 25 years of experience in forensic accounting, law practice, information technology systems, and corporate management. Students had the chance to ask questions, most specifically relating to fraud examination.

Courey talked to the students about gaining experience in the forensic accounting field, hiring trends in the government, public and private sector, skills needed to be successful and the day-to-day demands of the position.

“Learn to be a skeptic, and carry that through your career,” Courey said of being an effective fraud examiner.

Wipfli is a CPA and consulting firm that is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., with Minnesota locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
