Vet Tech Students Get Up and Personal with Seagull

Posted by on April 9, 2012

The students at Minnesota School of Business – Elk River received the opportunity to apply their skills in a real world situation by partnered with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Room at the Animal Humane Society to complete radiographs as needed on the animals that are under their care.

During week one of the Spring quarter, a seagull was in need of our help.  The seagull was brought into the Humane Society with a unique abnormality as he only has one leg.  The seagull eats and moves around great despite this disability and the rehabilitation group wanted to make sure that he would be ready to go into a foster care home in hopes of
release soon.

The students helped to take x-rays to determine that he was indeed ready to go to a rehabilitation home and on his way to be released back into the wild.  The seagull left our care on campus and went directly to his new home.
