Welcome to Spring 2012!
I’m excited to kick off another great quarter that brings everyone a step closer to graduation!
We held an outstanding graduation ceremony two weeks ago that I hope some of you were able to attend to cheer on your fellow students as they graduated. Graduation time has always been my favorite part during the quarter because I get to see students finally attain a goal they have set their sights on.
My second favorite part during the quarter is new student orientation where we welcome new students to campus and get them ready to start their educational journey that eventually leads them to graduation. We have MANY new students starting this quarter, so if you see an unfamiliar face—introduce yourself!
Let’s get to an exciting announcement!
I hope everyone has read the email I sent out this morning about the new tuition tier. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the scoop–we are introducing a tuition tier that will reduce your per credit tuition fee/cost if you are taking 11 credits or more starting next quarter! We are REALLY excited to be able to offer this and hope you take advantage of it by making sure to take 11 credits or more.
On another note, did you know you can dramatically reduce your cost of attendance by taking more than 16 credits? Any credits after 16 are FREE! If you believe you can handle the credit load, I would recommend speaking to education and financial aid about this
A few reminders for the start of the quarter:
- Student IDs are required to be visible anytime you are on campus. If you forget your ID, please ask the front desk for a visitor badge for the day. This requirement is for your safety. We need to be able to quickly identify someone who doesn’t belong on campus.
- Check your student email account often! This account is the primary way instructors and staff communicate with you and you are responsible for knowing about anything sent to your student email account.
- Get involved! Joining a student club is a great resume builder and education enhancer! Plus, it’s a great way to meet other students that you may not have in classes. Ask your program chair how you can get involved with a student club today!
GET CONNECTED WEEK!
We have several events in-store for you this quarter; however, the first one starts today!
Kayla Stai, Campus Communications Specialist and Michael Schneider, Campus Librarian want you to GET CONNECTED TO OUR RESOURCES!
They have put together a MSB Hangman Challenge that will acquaint you with library resources and forms of communication.
Whoever is the first to find the word clues and put together the phrase, wins a $30 MSB Bookstore gift card! If you think you have the correct phrase, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
Here’s the first clue: Being able to navigate library books is a key skill to have while going to college. Try your luck at finding the book written by Alexis de Tocqueville in the library – your first word will be under it.
Make sure to read the library newsletter, Vox Libro, tomorrow for your next clue!
I’m looking forward to a GREAT Spring 2012 quarter!
