Lakeville students win big at DECA State Finals
The students from Minnesota School of Business in Lakeville were excited and scared at the same time. This was a big step for these students. This was the first year that MSB Lakeville has put together a DECA team.
The team’s chapter advisor, Craig Wilson, discusses one of the experiences from the days events. “Before two of our students went into their competition, a member of another school came over to talk. He discussed that he was the reigning state champion in that category and they don’t have a chance. Our students not only placed in that category, they got first during the preliminary round.”
That was just one of the many stories that is flying around campus right now. They enjoyed every minute of the competition. They will be looking to compete in the national conference happening in April. They will be traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah.
For the all Minnesota School of Business and Globe University locations, we received 16 top three finishes.
For Lakeville, the results are as follows:
Accounting: Volkan Eroglu – Champion, Stephanie Buboltz – 3rd, Sara Ptacek – 4th
Business Ethics: Christine Larson & Nic Morris – 6th
Business to Business Marketing: Darren Thomas & Mark Thammavonsga – 6th
Financial Statement Analysis: Christine Drentlaw & Sara Ptacek – 2nd
