Former Minneapolis CIO Speaks at Blaine AITP Chapter

Lynn Willenbring, former CIO of the City of Minneapolis, gave a presentation at the winter quarter meeting of the Blaine campus’ student chapter of the AITP (Association of Information Technology Professionals) on Wednesday, February 22.

In addition to students and staff from the Blaine campus, the meeting was attended by Terri Lindfors, Network Director for Program Development, Tunji Akanbi, Woodbury campus I.T. program chair, Tim Plas (Virteva Corporation), and four other program chairs from the Blaine campus representing business, accounting, criminal justice, and paralegal.

Ms. Willenbring’s presentation included issues she encountered while serving as CIO for Minneapolis. Events she discussed included the collapse of I-35W bridge, a tornado that struck a Minneapolis suburb, the Republican National Convention, and the Minneapolis Wi-Fi project. She also discussed implementation of ShotSpotter™, a technology that relays the 3-D GPS coordinate of gunshots fired in the City to the 911 response center.

In addition to her experience as Minneapolis CIO, Ms. Willenbring discussed her appointment as information technology consultant to the government of Lithuania.
