Visiting Employers May Secure a Career

Do you know what is one of the best ways to search for a job? The answer might surprise you.

According to one of the most popular career searching books, What Color is your Parachute, one of the top five best ways that you can search for a job is to call or visit companies that interest you. When you call for visit ask if they are hiring for the type of position you can do. This method has a 69% success rate which means that out of 100 people who use this method to job search, a whopping 69% find this method successful! (Bolles 32-33).

This is the method that I like to use most when connecting with employers. Just today I called a company that a student was interested in. The call was so successful that the employer asked us to join an informational interview session and they gave us information about job opportunities that they were planning to post later this month.
