The Career Services department is holding open career labs in lab 207 on Mondays from Noon-1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. These labs are the perfect time for students and graduates to receive a wide array of assistance in preparing for their job hunts. The Career Services team will be helping with constructing and fine-tuning resumes, building reference sheets and cover letters, preparing for interviews, searching and applying for positions in their fields, and pointing out various websites to aid in the search. No RSVP is necessary, and this time is set aside and dedicated solely to focusing on helping our students and graduates.
The benefits of these labs are numerous. Instead of conversing by email, where instructions, directions, and intent can get lost in cyber-translation, sitting down face-to-face allows the Career Services team to gain a better understanding of questions, and also
reduces the confusion that can get tied into providing feedback over a computer. It also allows the student and team to build a better working relationship, based on clear understanding of each person’s job search scope, personality, and experience level. Additionally, it provides the Career Services department another outlet for sharing new job leads that the team receives, as well as upcoming news of career fairs, networking groups and other hiring events.
