The Minnesota School of Business-St. Cloud campus reluctantly bids farewell to Interative Media and Graphic Design Chair Mike Chau this week as he takes a new position in the private sector.
Chau says he is “really excited” to be moving “full-speed ahead” toward his new career with McKinley Consulting, creating websites for clients like Internet Broadcasting Systems. But he admits that the decision to leave teaching and MSB was a difficult one to make.
In his seven years’ tenure with MSB, he reflects, “I’ve felt like the whole IMGD program is mine. I feel like I had a huge role to play, even network-wide.”
He also knows that he will miss contact with his students, some “who come in with no experience and leave with awesome job skills and get jobs.”
Not wanting to brag, he feels he has “postively impacted lots of people’s lives.” And that is the beauty of teaching.
IMGD student and President of the student association, Krista Day, agrees that Chau has had a powerful impact. “Mike is the reason I came here.”
Chau expects to stay in contact with students via Linkedin and other media. It will be good to hear how the IMGD students progress on their projects and job quests.
Wishing you well, Mike! Know that you will be missed, but your imprint will remain on our campus.
