Music Business students got hands on with the return of acclaimed industry event Celebrate Women in Music produced by the Minnesota School of Business Richfield and 89.3 The Current.
In its second year, Celebrate Women in Music prevailed with an open look at the prominent women of the Twin Cities’ music scene and the scene itself. From artists to talent buyers and radio personalities, attendees heard from a variety of local business leaders both in a panel format, and through live performances. Students from Music Business Advanced Topics helped coordinate marketing efforts surrounding the event through local press, posters, online advertising, social media, online video, ticket sales and a general awareness campaign. Success was found with a packed venue on Wednesday December 7th.
Music Business graduate Tim Engel who worked on the project in his final quarter comments, ”being able to work on promotions is really going to give me the upper hand in the job market and being able to see an event that I had helped with become a success is the best feeling ever. These events help give students a chance to get their hands dirty.”
Engel plans to pursue event marketing and marketing in media after graduation.
