Q & A with Phillip Rodgers Medical Assistant Program MSB Rochester

Posted by on November 3, 2011

What was life like prior to enrolling at Minnesota School of Business Rochester?

I have been working on the family farm for the past ten plus years and decided it was time for a change.

Why did you choose MSB Rochester?
I chose MSB Rochester because of the smaller class sizes which focuses more one on one with each student rather than just being a face in a class room.

You enrolled in the Medical Assistant program?
Yes, I chose the MA program because of past experiences in a medical office as a patient which is kind of a long story. Another reason is that a lot of my family is in the medical field so I figured it would be a good fit for me as well.

Going into the program what did you expect?
I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was an easier transition going back to school than I thought it would be.

Once in how did your initial take on the program change?
I was looking forward to the program because I didn’t realize how much of a variety of skills a CMA possessed until I got started.

What is your favorite subject and why?
Radiography because its what attracted me to the career in the first place.

Your biggest challenge so far within the program has been?
Studying for classes I was required too take but had little to know interest in taking.

Have you conducted an externship yet?
Next quarter

When do you graduate and with what degree?
March ’12 with an Associates in Medical Assisting

Would you recommend this program to those interested in being a Medical Assistant?
