The St. Cloud campus hosted its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat event to rave reviews and about 600 people, despite chilly temperatures and a storm threat.
Faculty, staff and student volunteers were joined this year by community members and businesses with their decorated trunks, including: Boys and Girls Club, (Madison Kidstop) Tri-County Humane Society, Girl Scout Troop #17, Brownie Troop #688, Texas Roadhouse and Icing Dreams. As a special treat, Waite Park Firefighters and Police participated, fully equipped with a firetruck and police SUV.
Business student, Darin Kociemba, donated his DJ talents and spun music for the entire event, as well as led line dancing. Allied Health students, led by alumna Jerilyn Scott, staffed a hot dog stand inside the student lounge. The association also set up a Haunted Lab which drew crowds. IMGD student, Krista Day, was the face paint artist, and medical student, Melissa Kreitzer, created amazing hair-do’s. Faculty and staff volunteered their time to organize, set up, participate and clean up.
Trunk Awards: 1st Place to Skeleton and Pirate Trunk, (Jim Beck and John Malikowski) 2nd Place to Jack Skeleton (Steve Hansen) and Enzo the Wonder Dog, 3rd Place to SpongeBob Squarepants (Eric Hanson and Financial Aid).
Trunk or Treat provides a fun and safe alternative for the entire community and is free of charge. The only price of admission is a food shelf donation, and this year’s event totaled 451 pounds of food for the Salvation Army. A spokesperson commented, “We appreciate this so much. Our food shelves are really low right now.”
