Keynote Graduation Speaker-Marty Sackett: Alumni Action Hero

Posted by on September 26, 2011

GU/MSB Director of Career Services and Alumni Action Hero, Marty Sackett, traveled all the way to MSB-Shakopee campus on a Friday night, just to share his words of wisdom for new graduates. His speech, quirky and funny, elicited many laughs from the audience, especially this one by Gary Trudeau, cartoonist:  “Commencement speeches were invented largely in the belief that outgoing college students should never be released into the world until they have been properly sedated.”

Marty also gave “Three Pearls of Wisdom.”

1. Don’t ever use your Mastercard to pay your Visa bill.

2. Never pierce anything you can’t hide at a job interview

3. Sometimes you are the bug, sometimes you are the windshield. You don’t get to pick.

Sackett referenced Charles Darwin and the concept of change. “Humans are a clever and observant little species. We must learn, adapt and communicate.”

Sackett made the observation that one thing that HASN’T changed since 1877 when Globe University/Minnesota School of Business began, is that our greatest technology is between our ears-the human brain. Use it!

Thank you for your Interest in Minnesota School of Business.
