MA student with pediatric patient

Every week the MA students turn their classroom into a full-blown doctor’s office.

The students are given a ‘patient’ and are briefed on the medical problem that correlates with a specific skill they need to perform. After that it is up to the students to question and prep the patient as if it was a real doctor’s visit.

Throughout the lab, the MA students are evaluated and given feedback by 3rd year nursing students who are in their nursing leadership class.

The simulation lab tests the MA students on important skills they will need to know and perform before they go on their clinicals next quarter including checking vitals, bedside manner, giving shots and more.
