MSB-Moorhead Vet Tech Club Presents New Scale To Local Zoo

Trying to weight a wolf is not an easy task, but thanks to the Veterinary Technology Club at the Minnesota School of Business in Moorhead, it just got a lot easier. On Friday, August 19th, the students presented a brand new scale to the Red River Zoo that weighs animals up to 1,000 pounds!

The club purchased the scale last quarter specifically for the Wolves exhibit when zoo officials expressed a need for one. Students got up close and personal with the beautiful animals, feeding them peanut butter to get them on the scale. Some came back for multiple helpings!

“I think to be within 2 feet of the Wolves was absolutely amazing.” says Vet Tech Program Chair Shelley Olson. “The Zoo comes through for us all the time, bringing us pocket pets every quarter, it’s the least we can do for them.”

Vet Tech Club President Jill Guttormson also presented a contribution check from the club for $275, an amount raised from events conducted during the Fargo Marathon. The campus’s partnership with the Red River Zoo continues to grow and both organizations are planning future events.
