Melanie Torborg
Network Dean of Accounting

 

Professional profile Melanie Torborg, who is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), has over 20 years of experience in corporate accounting, and extensive experience as an accounting and business instructor. She and her husband of 26 years have three children, ages 25, 21, and 18. Melanie loves playing the piano, reading and running or walking with her golden retriever, Molly.

Dean Pedersen
Network Associate Dean of Digital Video and Media Production

Professional profile

Dean Pedersen has been Network Associate Dean of the Digital Video and Media Production program for Globe Education Network since April 2006.

Professional Highlights
Dean has an extensive background in television production and has been active in the industry since 1983. His diverse works include overseas documentaries, food industry features and home improvement and design programming. As an experienced director, producer and writer, he has created shows for national cable networks and local network affiliates (including Food Network, HGTV, TLC and Travel Channel), television ads, and corporate and promotional video campaigns.

Katrina Neckuty-Fodness
Network Dean of General Education & Service Learning

Professional profile

Katrina Neckuty-Fodness joined the GEN family in June of 2006 and has been the Network Dean of General Education and Service learning since December, 2008. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English, degree emphases in writing and eco-criticism, and minor degrees in German and planetary science. Over the past eight years, Katrina has worked for several colleges and universities within multiple departments: Core Writing Program, Core Humanities Program and Writing Center, University of Nevada-Reno; Writing Center and adjunct faculty member, Saint Mary's University; Admissions, Education, Career Services and adjunct online faculty, Minnesota School of Business; and adjunct faculty at the Institute of Production and Recording.

Jerry Lovrien
Network Associate Dean of Health Care Management

Professional profile

Jerry, born and raised in Minnesota, has four sisters and three brothers. He taught at the high school and college level and served as chief executive officer at behavioral health facilities in Minnesota and Washington. He also served in state healthcare and behavioral healthcare agencies in Georgia, West Virginia and Minnesota, managing budgets of over $700,000,000 and staffs of more than 7000 employees. Jerry also taught for 17 years in the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, Health Policy and Management Division, ISP Executive Healthcare Management graduate program.

Jerry has a passion for preparing students to enjoy rewarding careers as leaders and agents of change in the health care field.

Amy Scott
Network Associate Dean of Health Fitness

Professional profile

Amy Scott has been Network Associate Dean of the Health Fitness Specialist program for Globe Education Network since October of 2007. Her professional experience includes Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, University of Minnesota, Women's Athletics; Academic Mentor and Tutor, University of Texas, Women's Athletics; and Assistant Rowing Coach & Recruiting Coordinator, University of Texas Women's Rowing.

She earned her master’s degree at the University of Minnesota, and her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Earl Slack
Network Associate Dean, Interactive Media and Graphic Design

Professional profile

Earl Slack has been the Network Associate Dean of the IMGD program since April, 2008. He started teaching Illustration and other graphics classes at Minnesota School of Business-Brooklyn Center in 2003. His professional experience includes employment at several graphic design firms and advertising agencies. He has been a freelance artist since 1981, creating work for 3M, Pillsbury, General Mills, Tonka Toys and many other smaller companies. He is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Maria Leonard, MBA, MT, Reiki Master
Network Dean of Massage Therapy

Professional profile

Maria has been with Globe Education Network since 2002, and has been a massage therapist since 1994. She has been an instructor, spa manager and is a Reiki Master who teaches energy work and the power of positive thinking. Maria teaches on-line courses as well as serving as Network Dean of Massage Therapy.

She is a member of the Federation of States Massage Therapy Board Massage-Licensing Exam-Writing Committee and is a member of the coalition working toward licensure of massage therapists and body workers in Minnesota.

Maria believes that, with positive thinking and focus on the future, anything is possible!

Mitch Hare
Network Dean of Music Business, Media Business and Audio Production and Engineering

Professional profile

Mitch Hare joined Globe Education Network in 2005 and is currently Network Dean of Music Business, Media Business, Audio Production and Engineering and Internet Marketing. He has more than 30 years of performance experience as a bass player, keyboardist and singer. Over the years, he has played in bands that have shared the stage on shows with national recording artists Joe Cocker, BB King, Nicollet Larson, and The Guess Who. As a live-music contractor, he has organized and produced music for countless corporate and social events. He currently performs with Minneapolis chanteuse Aimee Fischer.

Mitch has a passion for supporting the arts in the community and strengthening arts education at all levels.

Faye Uppman
Network Dean of Nursing

Professional profile

Faye Uppman’s experience in nursing education spans more than 24 years in public and private institutions. Her work in curriculum and program development includes participation in development of a state-approved HealthCare Core Curriculum for entry-level knowledge for health careers, creation of a pathway program with practical nursing and associate-degree registered-nursing outcomes, and most recently, a new bachelor of science in nursing program at Minnesota School of Business. Ms. Uppman currently serves as Co-president of the Minnesota Association of Colleges of Nursing (MACN), is a member of the Clinical Coordination Project Advisory Committee sponsored by HealthForce Minnesota, and is involved in a research project focusing on the changing needs of the baccalaureate clinical education environment.

Meg Neubauer
Network Dean of Paralegal

Professional profile

Meg Neubauer served as a litigation paralegal in private law firms and corporate law departments in Minnesota and Iowa from 1984 to 2005. She worked on personal injury, employment, dram shop and medical malpractice cases, assisting attorneys with witnesses and exhibits at trial and maintaining documents in multi-plaintiff and complex litigation cases.

Meg joined Globe Education Network in 2005, first as an instructor and later that year became legal program coordinator at the Brooklyn Center campus. From there she moved into the role of dean of faculty at the Brooklyn Center campus and in May 2010 became the Network Dean of Paralegal.

She is a member of Minnesota Paralegal Association and The Organization of Legal Professionals.

Camille McArdle
Network Dean of Veterinary Technology

Professional profile

Camille earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1982 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her veterinary career has included over a decade of experience in horse racing and an equal amount of time in companion animal practice. She has served on the Minnesota Racing Commission since 1993. She has also written extensively for dog and horse publications.

Breeding and showing champion bloodhounds is one of Camille’s passions. She is also an American Kennel Club hound judge for conformation shows.
